Points FAQ
How Are My Points Calculated?
Silo Rewards points are calculated based on your eligible account balance, the applicable 0.5X annual points rate, and the monthly snapshot and calculation rules for your Rewards plan.
The basic calculation is:
Eligible Account Balance × 0.5X Points Rate = Annual Points
Each Rewards plan has a maximum eligible balance and annual point cap:
- Blue: Eligible Balance: Up to $50,000; Points Rate: 0.5X; Annual Point Cap: 25,000; Annual Fee: $95
- Gold: Eligible Balance: Up to $200,000; Points Rate: 0.5X; Annual Point Cap: 100,000; Annual Fee: $240
- Platinum: Eligible Balance: Up to $1,000,000; Points Rate: 0.5X; Annual Point Cap: 500,000; Annual Fee: $960
For example, Blue Rewards has a maximum eligible balance of $50,000, resulting in a maximum of 25,000 points per year.
The applicable calculation and timing are subject to the terms of your Rewards Agreement.
Is the 0.5X Rate Monthly or Annual?
The 0.5X Rewards rate is an annual points rate. Points credited during an individual month are determined according to the applicable Rewards calculation, monthly snapshot, and timing rules.
You should not simply multiply your current account balance by 0.5% and expect that exact number of points to appear every month.
Is the Calculation Based on My Highest Balance During the Month?
No. Points are not calculated based on the highest balance your account reaches during the month.
Silo uses the applicable monthly balance snapshot and timing rules for your Rewards plan. A temporary increase in your account balance does not automatically mean you will earn points based on that highest balance.
Why Do My Monthly Points Vary?
Your monthly points can vary because your eligible balance may change from month to month. Changes can result from:
- Deposits or withdrawals.
- Cash or investment transfers.
- Changes in the value of your investments due to market movements.
- Purchases or sales of investments.
- Reaching an annual point cap.
- Changing Rewards plans.
Because the applicable balance is determined using Silo's designated snapshot timing, the balance used for a particular month may differ from your balance at other times during the month.
What If My Balance Moves Above My Plan's Eligible Balance Limit?
If your portfolio increases above your plan's eligible balance limit, you do not automatically earn additional points on the amount above that limit.
For example, if your plan has a $100,000 eligible balance limit and your eligible balance increases to $120,000, the additional $20,000 would not earn points under that plan.
The excess balance does not, by itself, remove points you have already earned.
What If My Balance Falls Below My Plan's Limit?
If your eligible balance falls below your plan's applicable limit, previously accrued points are generally not taken back simply because your balance decreased.
However, your future points calculation may be lower because the eligible balance used for the calculation is lower.
What Happens When I Reach My Annual Point Cap?
Once you reach your plan's annual maximum point limit, you will not earn additional Rewards points beyond that cap for the remainder of the applicable Rewards period.
For example, if your plan allows up to 25,000 points per year and you reach 25,000 points before your membership year ends, you will not earn additional points until a new annual Rewards period begins.
Your monthly Rewards calculation may continue to be processed, but no additional points can be awarded once the annual maximum has been reached.
Reaching your cap does not cause previously earned points to disappear. Existing points remain subject to the applicable Rewards terms, including redemption, expiration, and account eligibility rules.
When Does My Point Earning Reset?
Your annual point limit resets according to your applicable Rewards membership period and the terms of your plan.
The reset does not necessarily occur at the beginning of the calendar year. Check your Rewards information or applicable Rewards Agreement to determine your specific membership period.
Does Changing Tiers Change My Point Cap?
Changing your Rewards tier may affect your eligible balance limit, annual point cap, and other Rewards benefits.
However, upgrading does not necessarily mean that previously earned points or your current annual cap will automatically be recalculated. The treatment of previously earned points and the timing of any new limits depend on the applicable Rewards plan terms.
If you are close to your annual maximum and are considering changing plans, contact Silo Support for clarification.
Are Multiple Accounts Aggregated?
Eligible accounts associated with the same SSN may be aggregated when determining Rewards eligibility and applicable balance limits.
You should not assume that each individual account receives a separate $50,000, $200,000, or $1 million eligible balance limit.
The specific account aggregation rules are governed by the applicable Silo Rewards Agreement.
Do All Points Count Toward the Same Annual Cap?
Not necessarily. Different types of Rewards points or promotional offers may have different earning rules, exclusions, and limits.
The applicable Silo Rewards terms determine which points count toward a particular annual cap.
Do My Points Expire?
Silo Points do not expire while you maintain an active Rewards subscription.
If you cancel all of your Silo Rewards subscriptions and your brokerage account is no longer active or in good standing, your existing points remain available for 12 months of inactivity. After that period, unused points expire.
To avoid expiration, maintain an active eligible Rewards subscription and an active brokerage account in good standing.
Why Haven't I Received My Points Yet?
Points may not appear immediately after an eligible transaction or activity. Some points require time for the transaction or activity to be processed and verified before they are added to your Rewards balance.
Your points balance may differ from your estimate because:
- Points are still processing or pending.
- The transaction or activity was not eligible.
- You reached an applicable point limit.
- The amount used for the Rewards calculation differs from your expectation.
- Points were previously credited or adjusted.
- Additional terms or conditions apply.
If you believe you completed an eligible activity but have not received the expected points, first review your account activity and Rewards balance. If the points remain missing after the applicable processing period, contact Silo Support with relevant details such as the transaction date, transaction type, and expected points.
Cash Transfers and Withdrawals
The following information relates to moving brokerage cash and is separate from the Rewards points calculation.
How Do I Withdraw Cash From My Silo Account?
Go to the Transfers section of your Silo account, select your linked bank account, enter the amount you want to withdraw, and submit the request.
Standard withdrawals are processed and delivered to your financial institution according to standard banking timeframes.
Can I Withdraw Funds to a Different Bank Account?
Generally, funds transferred into Silo must be withdrawn back to the original originating bank account.
If you attempt to withdraw funds to a different, non-originating bank account, those funds are generally subject to a 90-day holding period before they become eligible for withdrawal to the new account.
What Is Silo's ACH Transfer Limit?
Silo has a maximum $100,000 ACH transfer limit across a rolling 7-business-day period.
The limit applies cumulatively to incoming and outgoing ACH transfers and is designed to support account protection and liquidity management.
What Are Instant Deposits?
Eligible accounts may receive up to $1,000 in instant deposits, allowing deposited funds to become available for use immediately after an eligible deposit is initiated.
However, instant deposits remain subject to a standard 4-day settlement hold before they can be withdrawn or transferred out of Silo.
When Can I Withdraw Funds From an Instant Deposit?
Funds received through an eligible instant deposit may generally be used immediately, but they cannot be withdrawn or transferred out of Silo until the applicable 4-day settlement hold has ended.
